- Step into a leadership role guiding Site Coordinators, Grads and Cadets
- Exposure to complex resident interfaces and staged programme planning
- Work close to home for a people-first builder with development pathways to PM
ABOUT THE PROJECT
We’re proud to partner with Uniting to deliver the staged redevelopment of the Nareen Gardens precinct at Bateau Bay, a significant seniors living project on the NSW Central Coast.
The full redevelopment will deliver a modern, integrated seniors living community comprising independent living units, residential aged care and shared community facilities, constructed across two major stages.
Stage 1, now commencing, includes demolition of existing buildings and construction of 76 new independent living units, with a further 106 units planned in Stage 2, bringing the total to 182 homes upon completion.
As a redevelopment within an active, live operational retirement village, the project requires careful planning, strict staging, and a strong focus on resident safety, communication and continuity of access. This is a complex and highly rewarding environment for an experienced Project Engineer who enjoys early-stage project involvement and structured delivery.
You’ll be joining the project at site establishment, ahead of demolition works, providing a rare opportunity to influence methodology, sequencing and systems from day one, with strong continuity expected through to Stage 2 delivery.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in establishing and delivering Stage 1 of the Nareen Gardens redevelopment. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager and working alongside the Senior Contract Administrator, you’ll take ownership of design coordination, quality assurance, engineering documentation and site coordination throughout the early works, demolition and construction phases.
You’ll also provide leadership to Site Coordinators, Graduates and Cadets, helping build capability within the project team while ensuring high standards of safety, quality and programme control are maintained.
This role is well suited to a Project Engineer who enjoys being involved from the very start of a project, is comfortable working within live environments, and wants exposure to multi-stage delivery with a strong client relationship.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE
- Supporting site establishment activities, early works planning and demolition sequencing
- Coordinating design documentation, RFIs and consultant information to support site delivery
- Managing the project’s Quality Management Plan and ensuring clear delegation across the team
- Preparing, issuing and managing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), hold and witness points and QA sign-offs
- Monitoring site progress and supporting short-term programmes, lookaheads and sequencing updates
- Reviewing subcontractor works onsite and verifying quality, safety and compliance documentation
- Coordinating consultant, authority and subcontractor interfaces to resolve technical and staging issues
- Supporting resident interface planning, temporary works sequencing and access continuity
- Managing the timely flow of drawings and technical information to site teams and subcontractors
- Providing inputs to monthly project reporting, including programme, risk and cost considerations
- Supporting commissioning, handover and completion planning activities
- Assisting the commercial team with subcontractor claims assessments where required
- Promoting Growthbuilt’s safety culture and contributing to safe work planning and site inspections
- Acting as a technical mentor to Site Coordinators, Graduates and Cadets
ABOUT YOU
You’re a proactive and organised Project Engineer who enjoys being close to the work and contributing to well-planned, safe and efficient project delivery. You communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and take pride in coordinating complex activities within live environments.

- Experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer on building projects, ideally $20m+
