- Manage project reporting, cost control and financial analysis end-to-end
- Partner with project teams and finance leaders in a collaborative environment
- Build your accounting career with a trusted, award-winning construction business
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a highly capable and detail-driven Project Accountant to join our Head Office finance team in Woolloomooloo, Sydney. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the CFO and Project Teams, this role is central to maintaining financial accuracy, transparency, and discipline across all our construction projects.
You’ll manage project financial reporting and recharges, support project managers with cost management and forecasting, and ensure all project accounting processes meet internal control and statutory standards.
It’s an ideal opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys combining traditional financial reporting with hands-on project exposure across a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE:
- Managing project financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end WIP reports.
- Assisting in formulating budgetary and accounting policies to support project delivery.
- Overseeing project allocation, including labour recharges and intercompany adjustments.
- Preparing project financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Conducting cost investigations and variance analysis to support operational decisions.
- Maintaining and reconciling general ledgers, ensuring integrity of financial data and controls.
- Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions on key reporting items.
- Supporting the implementation and improvement of accounting systems, including Jobpac.
- Providing financial assurance and ensuring compliance with statutory and internal requirements.
- Advising on taxation, cash flow, and project capital investment matters as required.
ABOUT YOU
You’re an experienced financial professional with strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a collaborative approach. You enjoy working across both head office and project teams, combining strategic insight with practical accounting execution.
You’ll bring:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; CA or CPA qualification required.
- Circa 6 years’ experience in financial reporting or project accounting, ideally within construction.
- Excellent working knowledge of Jobpac (or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support management decisions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a solutions-focused mindset.
- High level of accuracy, organisation, and professional integrity.
Not sure if you tick every box? Don’t let that stop you. If you’re a capable accountant with an interest in the construction industry and a passion for accuracy and improvement, we’d love to hear from you.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
- Attractive salary package commensurate with experience, we value your expertise and will reward it.
- Flexibility in how and when you work: we trust you to get the job done and understand the need for some give-and-take to help you perform at your best.
- Collaborative, well-resourced team: Work closely with senior leadership and project teams on landmark NSW developments in a supportive environment focused on continuous improvement and excellence.
