Head of People Business Partnering

Our Story

Founded over 22 years ago, Grill’d started with a simple idea - to create healthy burgers that taste good and do good. Since then, we’ve grown from a single Melbourne restaurant into one of Australia’s most loved hospitality brands, with 180+ restaurants nationwide and exciting growth still ahead.

Grill’d is about more than burgers. From sustainability initiatives and community partnerships to innovation and restaurant growth, we’re passionate about creating experiences and making a positive impact for people and the planet AND we have fun while doing it.

As we continue to evolve, we’re looking for a Head of People Business Partnering to join our People Leadership Team and help shape the next chapter of Grill’d.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this is a pivotal leadership role within Grill’d’s People Team.

Leading a team of HR Business Partners & People Services Advisors, you’ll partner closely with senior leaders across the business to drive people strategy, organisational effectiveness, workforce planning and business performance. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our people practices support both current and future growth, while helping leaders navigate the opportunities and challenges that come with a national, dispersed workforce of more than 4,000 team members.

This role is not purely strategic. While you’ll help shape the future of our people agenda, you’ll also bring the pragmatism and confidence to guide complex employee and industrial relations matters, coach leaders through difficult decisions and ensure great execution across the People function.

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re equally comfortable influencing executive stakeholders, leading change and rolling up your sleeves to solve real business challenges.

Sound good? Here are some of the things you’ll be doing:

Lead the People Partnering Team: Provide strong leadership to a highly capable team to identify and deliver value to the Operations Teams across the country

Be a Trusted Advisor: Lead the People Partner Team to provide expert coaching and advice to senior leaders on leadership effectiveness, organisational design, workforce planning, succession planning and team performance.

Employee & Industrial Relations: Oversee complex employee relations matters, investigations, performance management and workplace risk. Provide guidance on employment legislation, Fair Work obligations and Grill’d’s Enterprise Agreement while helping leaders make sound, balanced decisions

Drive Organisational Change: Lead organisational design, change management and workforce planning initiatives that support Grill’d’s continued growth and evolution.

Improve How We Work: Drive continuous improvement across people processes, systems, reporting and operational effectiveness. Leverage data, technology and emerging tools to help simplify and enhance the employee experience.

Make a Business Impact: Use people insights, reporting and analytics to influence decisions, identify opportunities and help improve restaurant and business performance.

You’ll also spend time working alongside our restaurant teams as part of your onboarding, giving you first-hand insight into the operations, people and culture that drive Grill’d’s success.

Who We’re Looking For

Strategic and Hands-On HR Leader: You’ve successfully operated in senior HR leadership roles and know how to balance long-term thinking with practical execution.

Employee & Industrial Relations Expert: You bring strong ER and IR capability, with deep knowledge of Australian employment legislation, workplace relations and Enterprise Agreements. You’re comfortable navigating complex matters including investigations, misconduct, performance management, terminations and Fair Work matters.

Distributed Workforce Experience: Ideally you’ve worked in environments such as hospitality, retail, manufacturing, logistics, supermarkets or other large, dispersed workforces where pace, complexity and frontline leadership are part of everyday life.

Commercially Minded Leader: You genuinely enjoy developing others and have a track record of building high-performing HR teams. You understand that great people outcomes and strong business outcomes go hand in hand.

Culture Add: You’re pragmatic, resilient, collaborative and down-to-earth. You enjoy operating in a fast-moving environment and bring a solutions-focused approach to everything you do.
