Workshop Mechanic - Small Engines & Small Plant

About the role

Reliable equipment is at the heart of our operations. Our crews depend on it every day, and when something goes down, the work stops. We're looking for a qualified mechanic with strong small engine and small plant experience to maintain our fleet and make sure it stays ready for work.

The role is mainly workshop-based, with some onsite and mobile servicing as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Service and repair small plant, including ride-on and push mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, blowers, hedgers, edgers, chemical spray packs and power tools
• Maintain tractors, trailers and vehicles
• Diagnose and repair fuel, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic faults
• Strip down and rebuild equipment using genuine parts
• Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
• Complete welding repairs as required
• Provide onsite and mobile servicing when needed
• Order parts through approved suppliers and keep accurate stock records

About you

You're a trade-qualified mechanic with recent experience in small engines and small plant. You can diagnose faults efficiently, and you know how to prioritise your workload so critical equipment gets back into service quickly.

You take safety seriously, keep a well-organised workshop, and take pride in the quality of your work. You also bring ideas to the table and are comfortable suggesting better ways of doing things.

Requirements

• Current driver's licence, with experience safely towing and manoeuvring trailers
• Your own reliable vehicle for travel to and from work (a company vehicle is provided for onsite servicing)
• Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

Highly regarded

• Medium Rigid (MR) licence
• Experience maintaining landscaping equipment
• Diesel engine experience
• Experience with larger machinery and vehicles
