Are you passionate about turf management and take pride in maintaining high-quality sporting or recreational surfaces? We are seeking an experienced and Qualified Grounds Person to join our team at one of Australia’s most premier Racecourses – Caulfield Racecourse.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Grounds Person with a background in sports turf maintenance to join our team at a premium Melbourne Racecourse. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining high-quality turf surfaces and enjoys working outdoors as part of a dedicated and supportive team. You will play a key role in ensuring the racecourse is presented to the highest standard year-round and involved in producing high quality racing surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Carry out turf maintenance activities including track and grounds mowing, turf nutrition and herbicide applications, irrigation, turf renovations, daily race day requirements and general grounds upkeep.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of the racecourse and surrounding landscaped areas.
- Operate machinery and large plant, hand tools and power equipment safely and effectively.
- Monitor and maintain turf health and report any issues requiring attention.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, equipment, and supplies as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and company policies.
- Support race day preparations and site operations as required.
- Work around a schedule of approximately 20 weekend race meetings per year, with reasonable weekday overtime required.

About You
- Previous experience in sports turf management, operating plant and equipment, or grounds keeping is essential.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, squat, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and sun.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to completing tasks efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Certificate III Sports and Turf Management or equivalent will be highly regarded
- Valid manual drivers licence
- White card
