Racecourse Mechanic

About the Role

Join our team as Racecourse Mechanic for one of our prestigious clients, The Melbourne Racing Club.

Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a qualified Mechanic to join our team at Sandown Racecourse.

You will be responsible, but not limited to maintaining, servicing and repairing plant/machinery and equipment. Your day will be filled with some of the below responsibilities:

• Assist in identifying maintenance requirements on small plant/machinery and equipment
• Basic maintenance on large plant/machinery such as tractors, turf implements and track mowers
• Work on assigned race days including mid-week and weekend meetings
• Complete routine service checks of site vehicles, plant/machinery and equipment
• Plan and coordinate the setting up of the starting barriers on race days
• Basic repairs and maintenance on Starting barriers
• Required to work at Sandown Racecourse upon requests
• Basic welding and maintenance on track Irrigation machinery
• Occasionally weekend work and overtime are required

About You

• Mechanical Trade Certificate required
• Experience with maintenance and repairs on such as tractors, turf implements and track mowers
• Experience servicing of fine turf equipment
• Current Working with Children's card and Construction White Card
• Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Possession of a valid manual driver's licence and ability to tow a trailer is essential
• Welding and Fabrications experience advantageous (not essential)
