Playground Inspections and Maintenance Team Member

About the role

Are you an experienced Playground Inspector who enjoys a role that combines safety inspections with hands-on maintenance?

Green by Nature is looking for a skilled Playground Inspector & Maintenance Team Member toinspect, maintain and help keep council playgrounds and open spaces safe, functional and welcoming for the community.

Working across a range of public spaces, you’ll take ownership of routine and operational playground inspections while completing preventative and minor maintenance as required.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Conduct routine visual and operational playground inspections in line with required frequencies and relevant standards.
• Identify hazards including broken glass, litter, sharp edges, vandalism, damaged equipment and surface hazards.
• Inspect playground equipment, moving components, fixings, structural elements and surfacing for signs of wear or damage.
• Inspect and maintain softfall areas, including checking surfacing depths and identifying areas requiring attention.
• Repair minor damage to rubber wet-pour and playground tiles, including gaps and cracks.
• Complete general playground maintenance such as tightening fixings, lubricating chains and bearings, removing rust and sanding splintered timber.
• Identify hazards and take appropriate action to repair, isolate or make unsafe areas safe.
• Maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records and escalate significant defects when required.
• Follow all WHS procedures and safe work practices when working in public spaces.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Level 2 Playground Safety – Operational Inspection qualification (essential).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in playground inspection and maintenance (essential)
• Strong knowledge of playground hazards, equipment condition and surfacing requirements.
• Practical maintenance skills and experience using hand and power tools.
• The ability to work independently, manage inspection schedules and maintain accurate records.
• A proactive approach to safety, quality and maintaining community assets.
• Current Driver Licence.
• Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
• National Police Check, or willingness to obtain.
