About The Role

As our Contract Manager for City of Port Phillip, you will be responsible for the delivery of Open Space Management across cities such as Port Melbourne, South Melbourne, St Kilda and Elwood. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of turf and garden management, quality control, staff development and compliance throughout our facilities.

Reporting to the State Manager, you will work closely with clients and internal staff to ensure that all contracts are executed efficiently and effectively. Your extensive knowledge of maintenance practices, as well as your strong organisational and leadership abilities, will be key to your success.

You should have a strong background in horticultural management, with proven experience in leading teams, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality results to clients. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing budgets regarding controlling labour, repair and maintenance and material spending.
  • Relationship building and customer relationship management
  • Working closely with the Operational Manager to manage resource/plant during high and low seasonal demands.
  • Assisting supervisors with developing and managing schedules.
  • Detailed client reporting of maintenance operations and contract deliverables
  • Identify and encourage additional spend opportunities with your clients.
  • Complete Quality Site Audits across identified sites to assist with ongoing quality control
  • Lead, guide, develop and mentor staff with an active role in supporting and developing our apprentices

About You

You’re a confident leader with a solid background in turf and horticultural management. You understand how to manage people, timelines, and client expectations. You thrive in dynamic environments and know how to juggle competing priorities without compromising quality.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Horticulture 
  • Proven experience in a similar contract or operational management role
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Strong people leadership and mentoring abilities
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • A positive attitude towards working safely and a commitment to upholding our company's health and safety culture
