Apprentice Sport Turf Management

As a Sports Turf Management Apprentice based at Wyong Rugby League Club, you’ll learn from experienced professionals, work on a high-profile sporting site, and gain nationally recognised qualifications while earning and growing on the job.

This is hands-on, practical work where effort shows, skills build quickly, and no two days are the same.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll learn the foundations of sports turf management while working alongside qualified and experienced tradespeople. Your days will include:

• Assisting with the preparation and upkeep of rugby league playing surfaces
• Learning turf care techniques such as mowing, watering and fertilising
• Helping with line marking and match-day field presentation
• Identifying and reporting turf issues like wear, pests or disease
• Using turf equipment safely, with full training and supervision
• Following safe systems of work and quality standards
• Completing a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management as part of your apprenticeship

You’ll be supported every step of the way, with structured learning and clear expectations.

What you bring

You don’t need prior sports turf experience to apply. This role is about attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.

Essential requirements:

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather
• Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management
• Enjoyment of hands-on, practical tasks

Helpful, but not essential:

• A current driver’s licence and access to a car
• Interest in sport, turf, landscaping or outdoor work
• Pride in doing quality work
