About Role

As a Site Manager, you will be pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the prestigious sports fields at Macquarie University. Oversee all aspects of site operations, including scheduling, resource management, client communication, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sports turf management, excellent organisational skills, and a proven ability to lead and motivate a team.

About You 

Along with your Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, you have recent hands-on experience in turf management, greenkeeping, or a related field. Your knowledge of turfgrass species, growth habits, irrigation systems and maintenance requirements is second to none.

You are well versed in the operation of turf care equipment and machinery operations, including mowers, aerators, and sprayers and have a current driver's licence.

You already have or are willing to obtain a White Card, National Police Check and Working with Children Check - required due to the role being based in a school setting.

You have a mature and composed nature, excellent communication skills and would be confident to give your feedback on processes and procedures where you can see an improvement could be made. Your recent experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with demonstrated ability to motivate and develop team members, will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead and supervise a team, providing guidance and support to ensure client's needs are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor turf health and proactively address issues such as pests, diseases, and compaction through appropriate cultural and chemical practices.
  • Implement sustainable turf management practices, including water conservation strategies, and pest management techniques.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities, including mowing, weed and pest control and nutrition management to uphold the quality and playability of turf surfaces, following client specifications and seasonal requirements.
  • Conduct site assessments to identify maintenance needs, develop work plans, and estimate resource requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients to understand their preferences, address concerns, and provide recommendations for enhancing the aesthetic appeal and health of their gardens.
  • Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring availability and proper maintenance to support operational activities.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
