State Manager

We are seeking a commercially focused and strategically minded State Manager to lead our NSW & ACT operations. This role is responsible for driving operational performance, financial outcomes, systems optimisation, and data-led decision making across a diverse portfolio of contracts and services.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive General Manager, the State Manager is accountable for the overall commercial, operational, and financial performance of the NSW & ACT business units.

Leading a large, geographically dispersed workforce through Operations Managers, Client Account Managers, Project Managers, and support teams, you will ensure all services are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with contractual and operational standards.

A key focus of the role is driving operational excellence through structured systems, KPI governance, workforce optimisation, financial discipline, and performance analytics. You will use data insights to support strategic decision making, improve productivity, maximise contract performance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and business growth.

You will also play a critical role in stakeholder engagement, business development, risk management, and long-term operational strategy while fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee operational delivery across sports turf, irrigation, construction, and horticultural services across NSW & ACT
• Drive financial performance through strong P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives
• Develop and implement systems, governance frameworks, and operational controls to improve consistency, productivity, and scalability
• Utilise operational and financial data, KPI reporting, and performance analytics to support strategic and commercial decision making
• Monitor contract performance, workforce utilisation, and service delivery metrics to optimise profitability and operational outcomes
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and financial performance
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to support retention and growth
• Support business development initiatives, tender opportunities, and strategic expansion activities
• Lead, coach, and develop operational leadership teams while fostering a strong culture of accountability, safety, and performance
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, safety standards, and organisational policies across all operations

To Be Successful You Will Bring

• 5+ years’ senior leadership experience within landscape, horticulture, turf, construction, facilities management, or related operational industries
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale, multi-site operations with full financial and operational accountability
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and contract profitability
• Proven capability implementing systems, operational frameworks, KPI reporting, and process improvement initiatives
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capability with a focus on operational performance and business outcomes
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, leadership, and communication skills
• Qualifications in Turf Management, Horticulture, Park Maintenance, Business, Operations Management, or related disciplines preferred
• Passion for developing high-performing teams and delivering measurable operational and commercial outcomes
