About the role
Based onsite at Mt Carlton, This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for safely operating mobile cranes to support maintenance activities across the processing plant. When crane operations are not required, you will support our maintenance teams with day-to-day activities.
This role will be offered on a Max Term Full Time Contract and will see you work a 8/6 Roster Dayshift Only. This role will be DIDO/BIBO from the Townsville Region. Accommodation and Meals are supplied whilst on site.
Key Duties will include
- Safely operating mobile cranes for planned, breakdown and shutdown maintenance activities
- Performing lifts in accordance with site procedures, lift plans and relevant safety requirements
- Conducting pre-start inspections and routine checks of crane equipment
- Assessing lift requirements, site conditions and potential hazards prior to commencing work
- Working closely with riggers, doggers, tradespeople and supervisors to safely coordinate lifting activities
- Assisting with the setup and pack-down of lifting equipment and work areas
- Supporting maintenance trades as a trades assistant when crane operations are not required
- Assisting with general maintenance, tooling, materials handling and preparation of work areas
To be successful, you will have:
- Current C6 – Slewing Mobile Crane High Risk Work Licence (up to 60 tonnes) – essential
- Demonstrated experience operating mobile cranes in mining, mineral processing, construction or heavy industry
- Sound knowledge of safe lifting practices and crane operations
- Experience working around fixed plant and heavy equipment
- Willingness to undertake Trade Assistant duties when crane work is not required
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Current Australian Drivers License – Essential
- Right to Work in Australia – Essential
