About the Role
We are seeking expressions of interest for E&I Commissioning Engineers to join our site-based team on a FIFO 2/1 roster commencing January 2026. Senior level will also be considered. The roles are offered on a 4–6-month contract basis.
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager you will be responsible for planning, executing and validating the commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems across a mineral processing facility. The role ensures the safe energisation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and performance verification of all E&I equipment to support handover to operations.
Brief key duties
- Develop and review commissioning plans, procedures, ITPs, schedules and workpacks for E&I systems
- Ensure all equipment, documentation, permits and resources are in place prior to energisation
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability/operability assessments
- Oversee testing and commissioning of LV and HV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS, power distribution, VSDs, and control panels
- Execute FAT/SAT activities and ensure compliance with design, standards, and OEM requirements
- Ensure correct protection relay settings, earthing integrity and safe energisation practices
- Commission field instrumentation including flow, level, pressure, temperature, density, gas detection, and analyser systems
- Perform loop checks, instrument calibration, functional testing, and integration validation
- Conduct fault finding on instrument loops, cables, termination, and networked devices
- Assist in commissioning of PLCs, DCS, SCADA and network systems
- Support development and execution of functional test plans and logic validation
- Work with control system engineers to diagnose communication, logic, and device issues
- Interface with construction teams to rectify punch items and ensure installation meets design specs
- Review red-line markups, as-builts, test sheets and commissioning records
- Oversee contractor performance and verify quality of E&I installation
- Uphold site commissioning safety protocols including LOTO, energised work permits and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, WHS legislation and site procedures
- Participate in field hazard inspections and incident investigations
- Maintain commissioning documentation including test sheets, punch lists, progress reports and MDR inputs
- Support handover to operations with clear status reporting and defect close-out
- Execute performance verification to ensure systems meet design and operational requirements
You will have
- Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or equivalent
- WA ‘A’ Grade Electrical Licence
- Instrumentation or hazardous area certification (EEHA) – Advantageous
- 5+ years’ experience in E&I commissioning on large-scale mineral processing plants
- Proven track record commissioning LV/HV systems, instrumentation loops, VSDs, and plant control systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills for E&I faults
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong documentation and reporting capability
