About the role
Manager - Cost & Planning to join our APAC Projects Team. The role is offered on a permanent full-time basis and located at our Perth CBD office.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President - Projects APAC, you will be responsible for leading the cost control and planning functions, ensuring strong integration between project controls, project delivery teams and finance, combined with hands-on leadership and technical expertise. In addition to this you will also be responsible for financial alignment, risk visibility and overall project performance with a key focus on building a high performing team through mentoring and development.
Duties
- Establish, implement and continuously improve the Cost Control and Planning division structure, workflows, processes and procedures.
- Management of departmental workload, priorities and resource allocation.
- Lead, supervise, mentor, train and develop cost control and planning personnel.
- Ensure effective interfacing between project controls, project teams, procurement and finance.
- Provide oversight of planning and cost control functions across the project portfolio.
- Support project teams with reliable controls setup of projects, forecasting and reporting.
- Ensure alignment of departmental processes with broader business and operational needs.
- Act as the key interface between project controls and finance, maintaining and managing the relationship.
- Ensure alignment of cost, forecasting and reporting data with financial systems and requirements.
- Set up, maintain and optimise project controls software systems.
- Develop, implement and maintain project reporting systems and standards, including project progress reports, cost reports and planning reports.
- Operate at expert level and be fully competent to personally undertake advanced cost control and planning functions when required.
- Directly assigned to projects to perform high-level cost control and planning activities, including, Man-hour Cost Management, Capital Cost Control and Planning when required.
- Supporting and reviewing the implementation of change management processes and procedures.
- Ensure that all projects are updated and maintain budgets with the approval of Change Notices (CNs)
- Supporting the development of Final Forecast Cost (FFC) and proactive identification of risks and mitigation for projects and the relevant business units.
About you
- Tertiary Degree - Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering, Finance or related field
- 8+ years’ experience in a similar role within a multi-disciplinary engineering project environment
- 5+ years in a project controls management environment with previous hands-on cost control experience
- Background in Finance - Advantageous
- MS Excel Advanced - Essential
- Planning software – P6, InEight or equivalent – Advantageous
- Cost Control software – InEight, Contruent or equivalent - Essential
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Knowledge of procurement, contracts, QS and engineering processes and procedures.
