About the role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team at Mt Carlton Gold Mine. As the site's Person in Control of Electrical Work (PCEW), you will lead and oversee all electrical activities across the Processing Plant, Mining and Site infrastructure .
This is a key site leadership role with responsibility for electrical safety, compliance, maintenance and reliability, while leading the electrical team and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team across site to support safe, reliable and efficient operations.
Working a 4/3 4/3 4/3 8/6 Roster Day shift only, this position is DIDO from the Townsville Region, with meals and accommodation provided onsite.
Duties will include but not be limited to:-
- Fulfil the responsibilities of the site Person in Control of Electrical Work (PCEW), providing oversight and control of electrical work across the Mt Carlton operation.
- Lead, develop and support the site electrical team, setting clear expectations around safety, performance, accountability and quality of work.
- Provide site-wide leadership and technical direction for electrical maintenance across the Processing Plant, Site Services and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure all electrical activities are undertaken in accordance with applicable legislation, Australian Standards, site procedures and electrical safety requirements.
- Maintain effective electrical governance, including electrical management plans, procedures, authorisations, registers, statutory inspections, testing and compliance records.
- Maintain oversight of electrical isolations, switching, permits and electrical risk controls to ensure work is planned and executed safely.
- Ensure electrical work is undertaken by appropriately qualified, competent and authorised personnel.
- Manage and oversee electrical contractors and specialist service providers, ensuring compliance with site standards, safety expectations, scope, schedule and quality requirements.
- Partner closely with Senior Leaders in Processing and Maintenance to establish priorities and support safe, reliable and efficient site operations.
- Provide input into maintenance planning, budgets, capital requirements, equipment replacement strategies and electrical infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure electrical drawings, documentation, maintenance records and asset information remain accurate and current.
- Identify and manage electrical risks across the operation, ensuring appropriate controls are established and maintained.
- Contribute as a key member of the site leadership team, supporting operational performance, workforce capability, continuous improvement and the achievement of Mt Carlton's broader business objectives.
To be successful in this role, you will have:-
- Current Electrical License or equivalent recognized electrical trade qualification.
- Demonstrated experience or capability to fulfil the responsibilities of Person in Control of Electrical Work (PCEW) within a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- Proven experience in an Electrical Superintendent or Senior Electrical leadership role within mining, mineral processing or heavy industry.
- Strong experience across fixed plant and processing plant electrical systems
- Sound knowledge of relevant Queensland electrical legislation, Australian Standards, electrical safety requirements and statutory obligations.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing electrical maintenance teams and managing electrical contractors.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Maintenance, Processing and Site Services teams.
