About the Role:

Seeking a Principal Process Engineer to join our Brisbane-based team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in minerals process plant design across base metals, critical minerals and/or gold, together with a proven track record of leading complex studies and projects.

Reporting to the Process Department Manager, you will provide technical leadership across the Process Engineering discipline, supporting project delivery, mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence. You will work with a highly experienced team on a diverse portfolio of domestic and international projects spanning studies, detailed design, construction, commissioning and operational support.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead process engineering activities across major studies and projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical outcomes and discipline deliverables.
  • Provide technical oversight and assurance for key process engineering deliverables, including design criteria, mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams, equipment selection and technical specifications.
  • Act as a discipline subject matter expert, providing guidance on technical challenges, innovation opportunities and process optimisation.
  • Lead technical reviews, HAZOPs, value engineering workshops and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and best practice.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing trusted technical advice and supporting business development and project pursuits.
  • Mentor and develop engineers across the Process Engineering team, fostering technical capability and knowledge sharing.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of engineering standards, systems and work practices within the discipline.

Key criteria:

  • Degree qualification in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, with 15+ years' experience in mineral processing design, commissioning and project delivery.
  • RPEQ registration (or equivalent professional accreditation).
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of base metals, critical minerals and/or gold processing plants – Essential.
  • Extensive experience in process engineering design, including mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams, equipment selection and technical specifications, with competency using MetSim®, SysCAD or similar software – Essential.
  • Broad experience across studies, EPCM project delivery, commissioning and operational support, with the ability to provide technical leadership on complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical reviews, HAZOPs and engineering assurance activities, with strong knowledge of relevant Australian and international standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and mentor engineering teams while building strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Eligibility as a JORC Competent Person and/or NI 43-101 Qualified Person – Advantageous.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Multi-commodity design experience
  • Have the requisite experience and professional affiliation to be a Competent Person in accordance with JORC 2012 and / or Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of working collaboratively in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams, and
  • A desire to progress their career to the next level of management.
