Your Role

We are seeking an experienced privacy professional for a fixed term contract (start date 17 June 2026 – end date 9th of October 2026) as a Privacy Compliance Manager to provide continuity and support across Flybuys’ privacy program.

This role will focus on maintaining strong privacy governance, supporting business as usual privacy operations, and providing trusted advice to stakeholders while the substantive role holder is on leave.

You will act as a trusted advisor to the business, working closely with Legal, Risk & Compliance, Technology, Data, Marketing and external partners to proactively manage privacy risk while enabling commercial outcomes.

The role is part-time with flexibility on location and on working days.

Key Responsibilities

Privacy Governance & Compliance

  • Oversee the management of privacy across Flybuys in line with the Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles and other regulatory obligations
  • Monitor regulatory developments (including Privacy Act reforms) 
  • Provide clear reporting and advice to senior leaders on privacy risks, incidents and compliance posture

Privacy Operations

  • Act as the primary point of contact for privacy matters across Flybuys
  • Provide pragmatic privacy advice to the business on new products, marketing initiatives, data use and third‑party arrangements
  • Manage complex privacy complaints, enquiries and requests to access or correct personal information
  • Lead personal data breach response activities, including incident management and stakeholder engagement
  • Direct and embed Privacy by Design activities across initiatives, including Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
  • Contribute to the maintenance of privacy policies, standards and guidelines to ensure they remain current and effective
  • Support third‑party privacy compliance and risk assessments as needed
  • Provide clear reporting and handover documentation to ensure continuity beyond the contract period

Training, Awareness & Culture

  • Design and deliver privacy training and awareness programs in partnership with the People Experience team [updating the Privacy training is an discrete item of Privacy program work that can be completed during this period without deep knowledge of FB operations required]
  • Promote a strong privacy culture across Flybuys, balancing compliance with commercial enablement

Your Experience

You are an experienced privacy professional who can step confidently into an established environment, quickly build relationships, and keep things running smoothly. You bring sound judgment, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes.

  • 5+ years experience in privacy compliance, governance or risk management (in‑house or consulting) [minimum of 3 years]
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian privacy legislation and regulatory expectations
  • Experience managing privacy complaints, data breaches and regulatory engagement
  • Demonstrated experience leading Privacy Impact Assessments and embedding privacy‑by‑design principles
  • Ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders across technical and non‑technical teams
  • A practical, solution‑focused mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong documentation, reporting and handover skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Law, Risk, Compliance, Data Governance or a related discipline (Desirable)
  • Privacy or risk‑related certifications (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM) (Desirable)
