PURPOSE
Publicists are passionate about storytelling and earned media.
They play a key role in delivering high-quality PR campaigns, working closely with senior team members to bring ideas to life through media engagement, strong content creation and seamless execution.
As a core member of the team, Publicists contribute across multiple accounts — building media relationships, generating coverage and supporting the delivery of impactful campaigns.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Product
- Support the delivery of PR campaigns and programs across retained and project clients
- Contribute to the development of media strategies and creative campaign ideas
- Draft high-quality written materials including media releases, pitches, briefing documents, features and bylined articles
- Proactively pitch stories to media and influencers to secure coverage
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers and KOLs
- Develop and update media lists across key sectors and verticals
- Manage and respond to media enquiries with support from senior team members
- Coordinate media opportunities including interviews, product send-outs and talent logistics
- Support the execution of events, launches and activations
- Assist in the delivery of influencer programs to ensure alignment with campaign objectives
- Monitor, track and report on media coverage and campaign performance
Client Service
- Support day-to-day client servicing and communications
- Build positive working relationships with clients alongside senior team members
- Ensure tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard
- Contribute ideas and opportunities to enhance client campaigns and results
- Demonstrate curiosity and a strong understanding of clients’ brands, audiences and industries
Business Growth
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions and proactive idea generation
- Support new business activity through research, insights gathering and slide development
- Stay across media, cultural and industry trends to inform ideas and campaigns
People
- Work collaboratively with team members at all levels
- Support a positive and inclusive team culture
- Provide informal guidance and assistance to junior team members where appropriate
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 3–5 years’ experience in PR, communications
- Proven experience pitching to media and securing coverage
- Strong writing skills across a range of formats and audiences
- Developing media and influencer relationships across key sectors
- Strong understanding of the Australian media landscape
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality output
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
