QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS • Previous management experience in a food industry is required • High school diploma or equivalent required • Trade school or college degree preferred • Communication/Leadership Skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs or more • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time • Able to bend and twist at the waist • Able to sit and drive to destinations as needed • Able to withstand constant temperature changes (i.e. freezer like conditions) • Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding • Ability to crawl and work in confined spaces on occasion BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS • Able to work in a team environment and independently • Able to work in a fast paced environment • Self-motivated • Problem solving skills – identifies and resolve problems in a timely manner • Written communication – ability to read and write • Oral communication – speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situation, while keeping a positive attitude • Management skills – includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; makes self available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; and develops subordinates’ skills and encourages growth • Delegation – delegates work assignments, give authority to work independently, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities • Quality Management – looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness • Judgement – displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgement and makes timely decisions. • Planning/organizing – the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans within the department. • Safety and Security – actively promotes and personally adheres to safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly. WORK ENVIRONMENT: • This position involves constant movement and time spent on their feet • Wearing common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves or hearing protection is required • May need to work in freezer conditions and constant temperature changes • The sounds and noise levels can be distracting when working on the production floor • Will be working both indoors and outside • May be subject to weather conditions if working outside • Work with machinery and moving parts occurs daily OBJECTIVE: • To oversee, manage and set goals and deadlines for the maintenance department • Responsible for leading the organization’s maintenance department by correctly identifying and effectively accomplishing its goal of maximizing production efficiency and quality in a safe work environment. • Responsible for overseeing and managing activities relating to maintenance; ensuring that the plant is operational and working at the best possible capacity • Overseeing all inside and outside repairs/maintenance of all dairy properties, including apartment building • To schedule work efficiently, control costs and ensure regulatory compliance. • Maintain facility, equipment, and grounds to be compliant with standards. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of facility maintenance • Principles of supervision, training and performance reviews. • Recognize potential environmental and safety hazards and take steps to mitigate them. • Obtain relative information from a variety of resources, such as work orders, blueprints, schematics, specification and technical drawings. • Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all equipment. • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting motors, belts, and checking fluid levels, or doing other preventative maintenance actions • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. • Basic principles and practices of budget preparation and administration • Knowledge of equipment, tools and materials used in facility maintenance activities • Coordinates construction projects and contractors, remodels, and other special projects • Demonstrate, analyze and develop strategies for solving problems and able to work well with employees at all levels so as to ensure an efficient and high-quality product are produced and delivered. • Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes and rules • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary • Repair machines, equipment, or structures as needed • Work closely and manage 3rd party vendors as related to maintenance, plumbing, electrical, lawn care/plowing, etc. • Order parts, supplies, or equipment from suppliers as needed • Oversee all installation of new equipment • Take care of work orders on equipment in a timely manner • Make sure all buildings are kept up on repairs and painting (inside and out) • Maintain all plant vehicles; keep them in good working order (clean inside and out). • Responsible for hiring, firing and evaluating all employees in the maintenance department. • Manage schedules for maintenance department around production needs. • Make sure all maintenance employees are trained properly and set up training when needed. • Responsible for overseeing the apartment building; maintenance as well as rentals. • Prepare a capital budget for the maintenance department annually. • Prepare and operate within the maintenance budget. • Ensure that all company rules are followed. • All other duties as assigned
