Job Description


Our client, a leading ingredients company, is currently seeking an accomplished Safety Manager to join the team. Here is an overview of the role:


1) Lead, develop and supervise the PSM Manager and EHS Coordinator to support organizational goals

2) Provide functional, technical and process leadership to various groups and committees

3) Analyze and process specific job functions and recommend necessary modifications to improve safety performance and maintain proper equipment operation

4) Interpret and apply appropriate procedures as required by the local, state and federal laws

5) Investigate and analyze incidents and unsafe acts, conduct root cause analysis and recommend required corrective and preventative measures to mitigate reoccurrence

6) Sample analysis of potential exposures to company's employees

7) Fill out and send to OSHA the yearly 300A Log

8) Maintain and keep OSHA log records for the site

9) Compile and send out monthly TIR, DART and DAFWII

10) Upkeep, calibrate and maintain all documentation on monitor

11) Oversee emergency preparedness and response, including fire, severe weather and active threats

12) Institute safety goals that are aligned to the company’s objectives, track progress, publish results and make proper directional adjustments to meet or exceed each established target

13) Provide safety training for all new and existing employees according to OSHA regulations

14) Ensure that all programs, policies and procedures are understood and drive and hold accountability with managers and employees

15) Coordinate and administer established safety training and ensure that all programs, policies and procedures are understood and properly followed

16) Serve as an Incident Commander when on site

17) Coordinate and provide training and the periodic certifications on CPRand AED, first aid, ERT Team and other necessary trainings

18) Ensure all gear is inspected and in ready condition

19) Assist with confined space entry coverage and pre-planning

20) Facilitate the Management Review Team, quarterly safety, EHS key strategic initiative meetings and many others associated with this role

21) Assist in annual safety insurance agency visits and contractor weekly audits

22) Conduct confined space permit and hot work permit audits

23) Develop annual EHS budget and monitor costs throughout the year against budget

24) Administrate the worker compensation program for all company's processing employees

25) Work with Human Resources, WC doctors, insurance carriers and lawyers to help get employees back to work as soon as possible


Critical Requirements


1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the ingredients industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in safety management
