General Foreman

Job Description


Our client, a leading ingredients company, is currently seeking an accomplished General Foreman to join the team. Here is an overview of the role:


1) Set and achieve production targets in accordance with the company’s stated goals and objectives

2) Direct service, production, and development of personnel and equipment for maximum performance

3) Maintain an accurate shift log for the purpose of communicating reliable production and safety information

4) Follow company procedures for due diligence

5) Utilize the techniques of the five-point safety system

6) Read and sign the production coordinator’s and shift log

7) Make routine checks of the refuge stations, explosive storage and fire suppression equipment

8) Complete scheduled safety audits

9) Verify equipment pre-operation inspections

10) Verify that proper tagging and lockout procedures are being followed, as required

11) Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of all work orders

12) Identify and examine all new or unusual working conditions for safety

13) Involve workers in making decisions concerning best and safest work practices

14) Verify the preparation, accuracy and delivery of time-worked records

15) Ensure required supplies, tools and appropriate safety equipment are on hand and delivered to the correct work site

16) Follow company procedures for reporting mechanical and electrical malfunctions and order appropriate maintenance support

17) Attend safety, production planning meetings

18) Accept responsibility for other assigned tasks

19) Investigate all accidents, incidents and occurrences and complete reports immediately

20) Advise all workers of actual and potential risks to its health and safety

21) Take every reasonable action to ensure the health and safety of all workers

22) Recommend training programs for direct-reporting staff and workers

23) Conduct annual employee performance appraisals

24) Encourage worker input into production, best working practices and health and safety improvements

25) Supervise work outside of the regular schedule


Critical Requirements


1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the ingredients industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in operations
