Job Description


Our client, a leading meat company, is currently seeking an accomplished Food Technologist to join the team. Here is an overview of the role:


1) Submit labels to the USDA and keep USDA approvals on file

2) Review and revise product labels to comply with USDA and FDA regulations

3) Create and update in-house product specification sheets for customers

4) Keep suppliers product specification sheets, Letter of Guarantees and COAs on file for claim substantiation and records

5) Create nutritional facts panels using the USDA nutrient database

6) Keep records of product information

7) Create formulation sheets for production

8) Work cross-functionally with Operations, QC, Marketing and Sales teams for compliance on label and packaging content as well as new product launches

9) Work with chefs, culinary consultants and agencies in taking recipes from concept to production

10) Maintain and follow industry regulations and/or customer requirements

11) Develop specifications for all raw materials, process controls and finished goods

12) review changes in products, product specifications, and manufacturing processes to access regulatory implications of the change

13) Analyze changing regulatory requirements and their impact on the organization

14) Coordinate, review and edit regulatory documents to ensure that products are legally compliant

15) Ensure that the internal regulatory department database for new products is kept updated with backup information for all formulations to ensure that all necessary paperwork is available for labeling and registration

16) Led organization through several annual external regulatory examination and audits covering compliances of BRC, FSIS, USDA, Organic and FDA standards

17) Develop, implement and manage risk assessments for suppliers, raw materials, ingredients and packaging and manage the organization action plan to address risks

18) Manage regulatory approval process for marketing and advertising material and packaging to ensure the accuracy of claims, labeling and compliance with regulations related to food, food safety, specifications, product usage, nutrition and health claims


Critical Requirements


1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the meat industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in research and development
