Job Description


Our client, a leading baked goods company, is currently seeking an accomplished Production Supervisor to join the team. Here is an overview of the role:


1) Maintain the entire work area in a neat, safe and orderly fashion at all times using lean manufacturing techniques

2) Comply with all company’s and plant policies and procedures

3) Ensure that all OSHA guidelines are followed at all times and report any unsafe conditions to superior immediately

4) Validate the use of the plants’ lock- and tag-out procedures and job rotation program, as needed

5) Verify quality standards are being met in the area assigned by ensuring employees complete requisite quality tests and record results on forms provided

6) Reduce raw material scrap, ongoing superior weight control and eliminate hold product

7) Direct labor costs by ensuring high line efficiencies and first pass yields that meet and exceed plants’ goals

8) Manage the cleanliness, schedule maintenance and repair of all equipment through assigned machine operators

9) Verify all equipment is free of tape and other temporary repairs and submit work orders as needed to maintain equipment in like-new condition

10) Perform required set-up and changeovers using pre-flight checklists, testing of all equipment prior to scheduled start time and the use of SMED tools

11) Validate that all prior run materials are cleared from the area to prevent mixing of doughs, jams, film, cartons and master cartons

12) Develop, maintain and post visual KPIs to provide ongoing feedback regarding productivity, quality, safety and sanitation and housekeeping

13) Conduct daily meetings for employees covering prior days’ performance and current days’ requirements

14) Support various corporate initiatives to include lean manufacturing, SPC and others

15) Manage direct reports and provide timely feedback on goals and objectives

16) Maintain and develop a motivated well-trained staff

17) Address both positive and negative performance and behaviors, as needed

18) Provide well thought-out ideas to ongoing issues regarding food safety, quality, cost reduction, turnover and take own actions for continuous improvement


Critical Requirements


1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the baked goods industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in production supervision
