Job Description


Our client, a leading produce company, is currently recruiting a Director of Food Safety who will infuse the Food Safety Team with their talent, energy and leadership skills. 1) Lead a multi-member team that oversees food processing areas to ensure compliance with regulations, food safety laws, agricultural standards for sanitation, safety, quality and waste management standards

2) Enforce good manufacturing practices concerning sanitation, pest control, security and occupational safety.

3) Achieve exemplary scores on the company’s annual food safety audit

4) Respond to customer requests regarding food safety, sustainability and social responsibility

5) Train and effectively communicate food safety and occupational safety policies to all company employees

6) Maintain and implement the various elements of the company’s IIPP

7) Supervise compliance with various customs requirements concerning imports

8) Ensure the company’s emergency response plan is current and implemented

9) Manage sanitation of the facility while working alongside production

10) Assist the Management in ongoing safety education, hazard identification and elimination

11) Investigate accidents and ensure that department is maintaining required documentation

12) Maintain food safety budget and costs

13) Conduct packing house inspections and audits, as assigned

14) Supervise entire department, including cost, inventory and personnel


Critical Requirements


1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field

2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)

3) Recent experience in the produce industry is strongly preferred

4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in food safety management

Compensation and Other Details


Base Salary: Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
