About us
At Family Centered Support Services, we provide a range of services to children, young people, and families, including respite care, in-home support, and residential out-of-home care. We believe children belong with their families whenever it is safe and possible, and we work closely with the Department of Child Safety and the families to address the root causes of challenging behaviours and support positive change.
The role
The Audit and Compliance Officer role is responsible for identifying quality and risk within Family Centered through rigorous audits of multiple facets of the organisation, assessing alongside legislation and regulation, Human Services Quality Standards, Department Licensing requirements, FCSS Policies, FCSS Practice Framework and Workplace Health and Safety standards.

Duties will include
Compliance Management
- Conduct internal monthly audits and assessments to identify compliance risks
- Report on compliance with recommendation strategies
- Investigate departmental compliance issues and develop corrective action plans
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs and policies
- Ensure adherence to industry regulations, laws, and standards
- Audit compliance in line with the Pillars of the FCSS Practice Framework
Licensing
- Family Centred Ltd (t/a Family Centered Support Services) Licensing requirements, including add to-license inspections, monitoring, LCS6 documentation for staff involved in a notifiable event and LCS4a documentation on behalf of the Nominee
- Ensure organisation is abiding by Human Services Quality Standards within the Human Services Quality Framework
- Ensure licensing and organisation standards are met, through auditing against policies and procedures
- Maintaining relationships with Investments and Partnerships, Contracts Officers for monitoring, compliance, non-conformities, and actions to improve quality of service
Policy Development and Deployment
- Identify and address local policy issues/gaps and recommendations for improvement
- Draft and rollout organisational policies and procedures
- Ensure that all policies are up to date with current laws and regulations
Workplace Health and Safety component
- Contribute a Safety Culture by keeping environmental, psychological and social safety a priority
- Review systems compliance with WHS legislation
- Proactively manage, mitigate and report risks and risk mitigation actions in the Hazard and Risk ID report
Continuous Improvement
- Stay abreast of new and changing regulations, ensuring the organisation adapts as needed
- Promote continuous improvement in compliance processes and systems
- Complete tasks as delegated through the continuous improvement register
Required Travel
In addition to the once fortnightly travel to our Bundamba office for team meetings, you will be required to travel throughout your region once a month to complete property audits at the residential placements.
Travel may also be required for the following purposes:
- Inspecting new houses and/or new young people to be added to the license, ensuring compliance with standards and policies.
- Assisting Child Safety Officers during licensing and monitoring of the house, as well as when adding a new house.
- Supporting investigations that require the involvement of the Audit and Compliance Officer.
- Meeting face-to-face with relevant teams when the need arises.
Travel to other regions may be necessary to cover annual leave periods, as arranged and agreed upon in advance.
You will be eligible to claim a personal motor vehicle allowance for any work-related travel using your own vehicle, at a rate of $0.99 per kilometre. Paid accommodation may also be provided during regular monthly house audits (if applicable) or any other work-related travel as required.
The successful applicant will possess the following
- Ability to genuinely embrace the values and Vision of Family Centered
- A demonstrated passion for excellence. High level of integrity to capture accurate audit results
- Diploma in Human Services, Social Work, or equivalent experience. Previous auditing experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and provide reporting
- Minimum 12 months’ experience in a related role
- Minimum 12 months’ experience in the same industry highly valued (residential care and child protection)
- Demonstrated high levels of cultural awareness, cross-cultural experience, an understanding of remote communities or a willingness to learn and a good understanding of the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services (Qld)
- High level confidence with learning computer-based systems and programs, including Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and some Excel skills
- Ability to adapt as the company grows and changes. High level interpersonal skills (approachable, diplomatic, sensitive, articulate, non judgemental)
- High level written and verbal communication skills
- Team player and high value placed on relationships while also able to work autonomously
- Analytical skills and sound judgement
- Willingness to learn, creative thinking and problem solving
- Willingness to undergo Departmental screening processes
- Ability to complete additional training
- Working with Children's Blue Card
- Current Open Driver’s License.
