About the role: 

Evoenergy’s Zone Assets team is looking for a dynamic and solutions driven Senior Protection Engineer to join their team.

This role involves managing Evoenergy’s protection and auxiliary DC supply systems through lifecycle asset strategies, condition assessments, and technical engineering support. It includes designing protection systems, performing grading studies, developing project plans, supporting field staff, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and configuration management practices.


Key responsibilities: 

  • Management of protection assets based on life cycle costing principles – this includes decision to replace, repair, and upgrade assets.
  • Responsible for condition and performance assessments for Evoenergy’s protection assets and systems.
  • Responsible for the Protection Systems and Auxiliary DC Supply Systems asset specific plans, detailing asset management options and preferred strategy to manage the asset portfolio risk.
  • Responsible for performing network protection grading studies and production of protection setting documentation.
  • Other duties within the employee's skill, competence and training.

Our ideal candidate: 

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering.
  • Holds a current ACT Professional Engineering Registration or ability to obtain ACT Professional Engineering Registration
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of protection application for HV and LV systems and protection design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with power system software to conduct network protection grading studies and development of protection settings.
  • Knowledge of safety related to earthing issues.
  • You take active steps to ensure the safety of your colleagues and our community, championing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
