About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cable Jointer to join us within our Major Projects group.

As an integral part of this team, you will predominantly be working in greenfields subdivision, feeder and chamber substation environments.

Whilst it will be beneficial if you have distribution network experience, we are willing to develop and mentor cable jointers who can bring equivalent skills and the right attitude.

Being a Cable Jointer means you are responsible for the general construction, installation, connection, maintenance and repair of both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) distribution network assets and equipment with emphasis on those components directly related to the underground network.

Key responsibilities

The position holder will, within their level of skill, training and competency; undertake work activities associated with their trade qualification on Evoenergy’s Electricity Network and Ancillary Works including though not limited to:

  • Performing a wide variety of cable jointing applications, including HV and LV XLPE & paper lead cables of our underground electricity network
  • Termination of cables within switchgear and transformers
  • Installation of t-joints within underground pits for residential sites
  • Trouble shooting and fault finding within installed network
  • Supervision, development and mentoring of junior staff and apprentices
  • Ordering of materials for use including personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure booking of time and materials to appropriate project/work orders numbers.
  • Report on any worksite variances to immediate Supervisor.
  • Contribute to job closure reports within required time frame.
  • Participate in investigation of incidents if required.
  • Other duties within the employee's skill, competence and training.

About you

  • Minimum Certificate III Cable Jointing.
  • OH&S General Induction Card
  • Asbestos Awareness Training
  • Hold a current Medium Rigid drivers licence or be willing and able to obtain.
  • Previous successful work in field on construction and/or maintenance of network infrastructure.
