As a Project Development Manager, you will lead the end-to-end development of high-value, complex electricity infrastructure projects, from initial concept or customer request through to execution readiness.

This includes managing all aspects of project development such as technical design, environmental and regulatory approvals, commercial modelling, stakeholder engagement, and resource planning.

You’ll collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and external partners to ensure each project is strategically aligned, feasible, and ready for successful delivery.

This role is an exciting blend of creative and technical work, translating designs/specifications into real-world outcomes.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Project leadership & delivery: Lead, plan, and manage multiple complex projects through the development and design phases, ensuring alignment with organisational frameworks, quality standards, timelines, and budgets.
  • Stakeholder & team collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, external bodies, consultants, and delivery partners to define scope, gather requirements, manage resources, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Project management certification e.g. PMP, CAPM, PRINCE 2 (Desirable).
  • Planning, risk & performance management: Develop project plans, designs, cost estimates, and delivery methodologies; assess technical feasibility, risks, and cost‑effectiveness; track performance and report on progress, finances, and risks.
  • Continuous improvement & governance: Drive improvements through benchmarking, post‑implementation reviews, and quality assurance processes while demonstrating organisational values and maintaining industry best practices.

Our ideal candidate: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering or related discipline supported by significant years diverse experience relevant to project development and design activities in the energy utility industry
  •  A strong motivated communicator with a strong degree of EQ to liaise with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups to think and act quickly.
  • Substantial experience in the development of project programs and cost estimates for projects.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of infrastructure relevant to distribution, transmission line and substation projects with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines which govern safety, engineering design, environmental assessment for the implementation of engineering projects.
  • You take active steps to ensure the safety of your colleagues and our community, championing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
