We’re looking for a technically skilled and safety-focused Commissioning Engineer to join our System Operations team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe energisation and performance of Evoenergy’s electricity distribution and transmission networks.
About the Role
As a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the commissioning and acceptance of new network assets, including HV substations, embedded generation, overhead lines, and underground cables. You’ll ensure all assets meet technical standards and specifications, and support safe and reliable integration into the network.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of systems and collaborate with design, construction, operations, and data teams to uphold the integrity of Evoenergy’s network under both normal and abnormal conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver commissioning documentation, drawings, and protection scheme confirmations.
- Manage commissioning programs and final asset acceptance approvals.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards for all new network assets and customer connections.
- Act as a single point of contact for commissioning coordination.
- Integrate commissioning requirements into project planning and network switching plans.
- Support SCADA updates, network data configuration, and system enhancements.
- Provide technical guidance to field staff and mentor cadet engineers.
- Promote safety, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power) or equivalent.
- ACT Professional Engineering Registration (or ability to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of electricity distribution, transmission, and substation systems.
Desirable:
- Experience in asset commissioning in high-voltage environments.
- Understanding of trends and changes in the utility industry.
