Senior Asset Reliability Engineer

  • Ongoing, Full-Time opportunity
  • Salary starting at $174,862 plus 16% superannuation
  • Location: Greenway, Canberra, ACT (Free parking onsite)


About the role

As the Senior Asset Reliability Engineer, you will lead the change in enhancing the long-term reliability, safety, and performance of Evoenergy’s electricity network. This role provides expert engineering oversight and drives continuous improvement by embedding reliability insights into asset strategies, standards, and lifecycle planning.

This role requires strong collaboration with operational and delivery teams and a hands-on approach to investigating asset failures, ensuring engineering insights are informed by direct field observations where safe and practical.

Evoenergy is seeking a safety-focused individual, to make informed decisions, report hazards, and act within a supported culture of fairness and accountability.

 

A day in the life

  • Lead and support root cause analysis investigations into operational asset failures and systemic reliability issues through development and application of frameworks.
  • Act as the technical authority for reliability engineering, providing peer review, mentoring of engineers and field supervisors, and ensuring investigations meet required engineering and governance standards.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to identify, assess, and mitigate systemic reliability and safety risks across asset classes, coordinating with Network Operations, Standards, and Works Delivery.
  • Provide engineering leadership and advice to support emergency/reactive response involving asset failures, including repair efficacy, safety measures, plant modifications, and interim risk management.
  • Champion and role model Evoenergy’s culture principles and behaviours acting as a coach and mentor to actively support your team in demonstrating the culture principles and behaviours.

Our ideal candidate

  • You take active steps to ensure the safety of your colleagues and our community, championing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or related discipline).
  • Demonstrated experience in asset reliability maintenance engineering or fault analysis within a distribution or transmission utility, or similar heavy asset environment.
  • Strong practical understanding of electricity distribution assets, e.g. transformers, switchgear, cables) and failure modes across primary and secondary systems.
  • Proficiency in technical reporting, developing dashboards and communicating complex engineering findings to varied stakeholders.
  • Holds a current ACT Professional Engineering Registration or ability to obtain ACT Professional Engineering Registration.
