Whether you’re fresh from school or looking to make a career change, power your lifelong career with the Evoenergy Apprenticeship Program, commencing in early 2027.

We're looking for collaborative, safety-focused individuals with a passion for learning to join our team as Apprentice Electrical Fitters, Lineworkers, or Cable Jointers. 

As an apprentice, you'll have a hands-on role in building, maintaining, and servicing the ACT’s electricity network, directly contributing to a more sustainable, net zero future. 

You'll be supported by experienced crews who offer practical mentorship and training, always with safety at the core. Along the way, you'll develop the technical skills and knowledge needed to build a long-term, rewarding career with Evoenergy. 

What trades are available:

  • Lineworkers are responsible for building, improving and maintaining the poles and wires that deliver electricity to our customers  
  • Cable Jointers are responsible for installing and maintaining the underground cables and network equipment that deliver electricity to our customers  
  • Electrical Fitters are responsible for maintaining, servicing and constructing the network of the ACT.

What to expect! 

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll receive on-the-job training in your chosen trade, supported by highly skilled and qualified tradespeople who are passionate about keeping the lights on for Canberra. You’ll also have the backing of our dedicated Apprenticeship Team Lead, ensuring you’re supported every step of the way as you develop the confidence, capability, and experience to thrive in your trade. 

As an apprentice you will: 

  • Follow a financially supported and structured training pathway to complete your Certificate III in Electrotechnology, ESI – Distribution Overhead, or ESI – Distribution Underground.  
  • Learn how electrical systems and components work 
  • Develop safe and effective use of tools and test equipment 
  • Gain skills in constructing and maintaining overhead power systems 
  • Operate heavy machinery for tasks like non-destructive digging and elevated work 
  • Receive on-the-job coaching, mentorship and support.  
  • Trade the desk for the great outdoors! 

Our ideal candidate will:  

  • Actively ensure the safety of your colleagues and our Canberra community, championing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment  
  • Have an eagerness to learn and listen. We’ll teach you everything you need to know so come along with a curiosity for the industry.  
  • Have experience in team-based environments. This can include work experience in retail, fast food, sporting teams or even social groups.  
  • Be eager to work in the elements, including at heights, in confined spaces, outdoors and in the Canberra weather.  
  • Be about to complete year 12, have recently completed year 12 or have relevant job experience.   

What will I earn as an apprentice? 

  • Under 21: $42,688 per year, which equates to $1,637 per fortnight plus allowances 
  • Over 21: $81,230 per year, which equates to $3,114 per fortnight plus allowances

  • Pre-employment checks – these include pre employment medical, reference and standard background check
