Evoenergy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of technical design standards for sub-transmission assets, including 132/11kV zone substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and associated protection and control systems. Embedded within the Capability, Standards and Assurance team, this role brings deep technical expertise in high-voltage design and contributes to strengthening Evoenergy’s engineering capability across both primary and secondary systems.
This position plays a key role in ensuring design standards are practical, safe, and aligned with regulatory and operational needs. You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to develop high-quality engineering solutions, support investigations into asset performance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of safe design practices across the network.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain design standards for sub-transmission assets, including substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and protection systems.
- Provide specialist expertise in primary plant layout, protection design, and IEC 61850-based secondary systems.
- Review and update technical drawings, manuals, and specifications to reflect current practices and regulatory changes.
- Manage engineering consultants and contribute to procurement processes for sub-transmission equipment and services.
- Collaborate across planning, design, construction, and asset management to ensure standards are integrated across the asset lifecycle.
- Support investigations into asset performance and contribute to safe design practices and continuous improvement.

Our ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and eligibility for ACT Professional Engineering Registration.
- Deep expertise in one or more areas of transmission-level design (primary substations, transmission lines, or protection systems).
- Strong foundational understanding of all sub-transmission disciplines to support integrated design standards.
- Experience managing consultants and reviewing technical deliverables, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and strong communication skills to engage stakeholders across technical and operational teams.
