About the Role 

We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst with a strong background in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and design solutions that leverage GIS technology to meet client needs. This role will require a deep understanding of GIS principles, software applications, and project management methodologies to ensure successful project delivery.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and development teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements related to GIS projects.
  • Business Process Analysis: Analyze existing business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement, ensuring that GIS solutions align with organizational goals and client expectations.
  • GIS Solution Design: Work with technical teams to design and propose GIS solutions that meet business requirements, ensuring usability, scalability, and integration with existing systems.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, facilitating effective communication and understanding of project objectives.
  • Project Management: Assist in project planning, including defining project scope, timelines, and resource allocation. Support project managers in tracking progress and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Testing and Validation: Collaborate with QA teams to develop test cases and perform validation of GIS solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and quality standards.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively utilize GIS solutions to meet their business needs.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user guides, and project reports.

About You

Reporting to the Manager from Data and System Engineer, you will offer a minimum five (5) years’ experience as a Business Analyst with proven experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial data management.

To be successful in this role with us, you will bring along: 

  • Bachelor degree in Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in the GIS domain or related fields.
  • Proven experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial data management.
  • Strong understanding of GIS concepts, technologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering positive relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with cloud-based GIS solutions (e.g., ArcGIS Online, Google Earth Engine).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for geospatial data analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to GIS data management.
