About the Role 

The Business Development Manager is a key driver of new revenue for Esri Australia, responsible for targeting and winning new logos and upselling to existing customers within the QLD/NT Local Government Sector. This is a true hunter role, focused on opening doors, generating new opportunities, and selling complex GIS solutions to high value prospects. Using a strategic, consultative sales approach, you’ll uncover business challenges, shape tailored solutions, and guide stakeholders through the buying journey. Success is measured by exceeding new business targets, building and progressing a strong pipeline, expanding territory presence, and developing trusted relationships. You don’t need prior GIS or geospatial experience to succeed, we’ll equip you with the solution knowledge you need, as long as you bring the drive, curiosity, and sales hunger to win. 

The key responsibilities include: 

  • Build an Annual Business Plan for the QLD/NT Sales Territory to identify selling possibilities and evaluate customer needs. 
  • Actively seek out new sales opportunities, qualify, and close within the assigned territory. 
  • Manage territory and maintain a strong, prioritised pipeline aligned with go-to-market strategy. 
  • Lead consultative sales processes, including discovery, proposals, negotiations, and tender responses. 
  • Communicate the value of GIS solutions and deliver compelling presentations to secure deals, including the ability to carry a C-Level conversation. 
  • Consistently exceed sales targets with accurate forecasting and reporting. 
  • Use Salesforce as a strategic tool, maintaining a high level of platform hygiene across your accounts. 
  • Work in alignment with associated teams such as Solution Engineering, Professional Services, Advisory Services, Managed Services, Customer Success. 

 

About You 

We’re seeking a driven hunter sales professional who thrives on winning new business and opening doors across the QLD/NT Local Government sector. Join Australia’s leading spatial intelligence company and take the lead in driving growth, executing targeted go to market plays, and empowering customers with powerful geospatial solutions. 

You will be successful if you have: 

  • A strong network and proven track record selling enterprise business software, technical solutions, or professional services. 
  • Successful sales experience within the Local Government sector is ideal, however candidates with other selling to Government or similar consultative selling experience will also be considered. 
  • The ability to design and execute targeted account plans and opportunity plans that deliver consistent results. 
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and closing high-value opportunities. 
  • Known for developing trusted relationships and a reputation for building long-term relationships with senior stakeholders and decision-makers. 
  • Experience in working with partners to achieve sales target is beneficial.  
  • Energetic, strategic, and hungry to generate new opportunities beyond your existing network – you hunt, not wait. 
  • An articulate communicator with strong business writing and presentation skills. 
  • Understanding of spatial industry desirable, appetite to learn about it is essential. 
  • Current permanent and full-time working rights in Australia.
