About the role
The Senior Assessor Trainer will be responsible for the delivery of training and assessment required by the OPCO and external customers This role would suit someone looking for a break from operational duties, as the Senior Assessor Trainer you will have the primary responsibility for the training of the Overhead Qualification (UET30621 Cert III Distribution Overhead) .Your primary role will be to deliver:
- O/H & U/G Services training
- Install & Replace energy metering
- Public lighting O/H & U/G
- Testing of connections
This position will also be required to provide training and assessment and reporting of outcomes related to trades, apprentice and post-training verifications of competency (VOCs) in line with corporate objectives and the outcomes of trade roles within the Electricity Supply Industry and Transmission Distribution and Rail (ESI-TDR) and Electrotechnology training packages. Further responsibilities for the role will be to contribute to the ongoing development of training and assessment resources, programming of work and the compliance of an RTO in line with the Australian Skills Quality Authority’s (ASQA) Standards for RTOs.
Key accountabilities
- Deliver and assess the UET30621 Overhead qualification
- Assist in the delivery and assessment of UET30821 Underground qualification
- Deliver First Aid, LVR, CPR, EWP and Pole Top Rescue training
- Deliver competency based training and assessment in either a classroom or workplace environment for internal and external customers
- Deliver competency-based training and assessment in classroom, workplace, or in-field environments for internal and external customers, including higher AQF or critical business requirement programs.
- Mentor and guide Assessor Trainers, ensuring compliance with OPCO, RTO, and ASQA requirements, while providing expert advice in specialised training areas.
- Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) follow-ups, deliver gap training, and engage with supervisors to support competency acquisition and compliance.
- Maintain accurate training records, prepare reports, and oversee documentation in line with RTO and business requirements.
- Design, develop, and promote technical training resources, maintaining trade and training competencies to ensure continuous improvement of delivery and outcomes.

Qualifications
- Cert IV in Frontline Management or equivalent (desirable)
- Cert IV in Training and Assessing (Training can be provided to the right candidate)
- Cert III in Distribution Overhead
- Cert III in Distribution Cable jointing
- ESI-TDR or Electrotechnology Trades Qualification
- C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
- Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course
Licences/Tickets
- C2 Slewing Mobile Crane up to 20 Tonnes
- WP EWP Boom length 11 metres or more
- HR Heavy Rigid Vehicle Licence
- C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
- DG WorkCover Licence to perform dogging
- Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course
Experience
- Advanced professional with substantial experience in a similar/professional role within the Education, Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities industry.
- Min. 5 years experience in distribution cable jointing
- Min. 5 years experience in distribution overhead
- Knowledge of regulatory training and assessment needs of the business and Accredited Service Providers.
- Experience in developing, programming and delivering workplace trainer and assessor resource materials and duties in a large geographically diverse energy distribution environment.
- Experience in conduct Risk Based Training Needs Analysis (RBTNA) Verification of Competency (VoC) in the workplace.
