About the role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead the design and provide critical support for secondary systems, including protection, SCADA, and energy storage, across diverse regulated and unregulated projects. In this role, you will serve as a technical lead, providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities to other secondary design engineers, while driving quality, consistency, and continuous improvement across all design deliverables. You will also lead innovation initiatives aimed at enhancing design practices and improving efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
The role contributes to Endeavour Energy’s strategic objectives by enhancing network resilience, enabling renewable integration, and supporting the advancement of innovative, sustainable design practices.
Key accountabilities
- Safety & Sustainability: Champion Safety in Design and integrate environmental sustainability across all design activities, aligning with Endeavour Energy’
- Leadership & Innovation: Lead the delivery of cutting-edge designs for substations, SCADA, protection, and energy storage systems. Develop future-ready standards and drive innovation, including digital substations and advanced protection schemes.
- Project Delivery & Engineering Support: Prepare technical scopes and specifications, support procurement, and provide expert guidance during construction, commissioning, and integration phases to ensure efficient project outcomes.
- Compliance, Quality & Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure compliance with technical and statutory standards, peer-review critical deliverables, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to uphold design quality and align with business goals.
- Mentoring & Capability Development: Foster a culture of engineering excellence by mentoring team members and supporting the transformation needed to build the "Grid of the Future".

About you
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related Engineering discipline)
Desirable qualifications
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation or equivalent, (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- Postgraduate qualifications in Power Systems, Energy Systems or Renewable Energy Systems
Desirable experience
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in designing secondary systems for major substations at 132kV
- Experienced in designing complex secondary systems for major clients, including Microsoft and Amazon data centres
- Technical lead for a design team
Licences / tickets
- C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
- Green Card Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course
