About the Role

Endeavour Energy is seeking a skilled and safety‑focused District Operator to join our System Operations Team based in Kings Park. In this critical frontline role, you will support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the electrical distribution network across one of Australia’s fastest‑growing regions.

As a District Operator, you will work closely with the Endeavour Energy Control Room, field crews, and emergency services, performing routine operational network switching, responding to Low Voltage, Distribution, and Transmission network faults, customer emergencies, and electrical hazards across our network. 

This position operates within a 24/7 rotating roster environment and plays a vital part in protecting people, assets, and service continuity across our service area.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain a detailed working knowledge of Endeavour Energy’s electrical network, apparatus, operating procedures and system configuration.
  • Routinely operate the Low Voltage, Distribution, and Transmission network and respond to all network emergency situations 24/7/365.
  • Carry out minor repairs on electrical apparatus to improve network reliability and support operational continuity.
  • Respond to customer calls, make it safe at customer installations, provide advice on safety and service availability, and ensure customer impacts are clearly communicated.
  • Liaise with customers, NSW Police, Fire & Rescue, Ambulance and other emergency authorities at incident sites regarding electrical hazards and safety procedures.
  • Engage with regional work parties, supervisors, the Control Room, internal and external field work groups to ensure accurate operational communication.
  • Initiate, develop, recommend and implement solutions or preventive measures for identified non‑conformances with policies, procedures, or standards.
  • Provide timely and effective operational responses, coordinate with emergency services, and ensure the safety of all stakeholders, including staff, customers and network assets.

  • Balancing customer expectations with network access limitations and operational priorities.
  • Responding rapidly and effectively to unplanned outages, weather events, and critical emergency incidents.
  • Ability to adapt and respond dynamically to changing network conditions.
  • Maintaining strong and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders under challenging conditions.
  • Operating efficiently and safely within a demanding 24/7 shift‑based environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • An Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Extensive experience in HV/LV network switching operations on distribution and/or transmission networks.
  • Current HV Switching Authorisation (DN3 / TS2 / TS3 or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience responding to network faults, electrical hazards, and emergencies.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices, WorkCover regulations and relevant operational procedures.
  • Experience working for a Distribution Network Service Provider (DNSP).
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in operational environments.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in Network Field Operations or a Control Room environment.
  • Additional qualifications such as EWP or other relevant tickets.
  • Experience in 24/7 shift work or rotating roster environments.

Licenses

  • C‑Class Driver’s License.
  • White Card – General Construction Induction.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, particularly in high‑pressure environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills within an operational environment using unambiguous, industry standard terminology
  • Basic Digital Literacy such as basic computer operations (Windows, macOS), proficiency in office productivity tools 
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Adaptability to changing network and incident conditions.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven safety awareness and commitment to procedural compliance.
