About the role

The District Operator in Training is responsible for participating in training and gain experience towards being a District Operator. They are required to provide material assistance to District Operators and from time-to-time act independently in accordance with their authorisations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain a detailed working knowledge of the electrical system, apparatus and procedures.
  • Take what actions are deemed necessary at incident sites to ensure the safety of persons and the security of the electrical network and test, earth, and short circuit electrical apparatus, isolate and restore electrical apparatus and check written and verbal instructions.
  • Carry out minor high voltage and low voltage repairs on electrical apparatus to improve network reliability.
  • Rectify and repair problems on customer’s low voltage switchboards, on company and customer’s equipment and within customer’s premises.
  • Make safe at customer’s installations and advise customer’s problems, safety and service availability and work in accordance with a 24-hour, 7 day rotating roster.
  • Liaise with: Customer’s, Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance and other emergency Authorities at incident sites on matters relating to electrical safety and procedures. Regional work parties and supervisors.
  • Initiate, develop, recommend and implement solutions to, or preventive measures for, any identifiable non-conformance with policies, procedures and standards.
  • Assist District Operators to routinely operate the high voltage network and respond to all network emergency situations to ensure the safety of the public, Endeavour staff, network assets, as well as the effective operation of the electrical network, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
  • Assist District Operators to ensure effective response to network operational requirements and provision of quality service to all customers and assist with liaising with Control Room, site work groups and emergency response personnel to ensure factual communication and the safety of all staff, customers and our assets

Qualifications, Certifications and Licences

Required Qualifications

  • Electrical Trade certificate 

Licences/Tickets

  • C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
  • Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course
