About the role

The Senior Assessor Trainer will be responsible for the delivery of training and assessment required by the OPCO and external customers This role would suit someone looking for a break from operational duties, as the Senior Assessor Trainer you will have the primary responsibility for the training of Annual Electrical Safety Refreshers and rescue skills. Your primary role will be to deliver:

  • First Aid and CPR
  • Pole Top Rescue
  • Transformer Rescue
  • Working at Heights
  • EWP Rescue
  • Travel to regional depots may be required

This position will also be required to provide training and assessment and reporting of outcomes related to trades, apprentice and post-training verifications of competency (VOCs) in line with corporate objectives and the outcomes of trade roles within the Electricity Supply Industry and Transmission Distribution and Rail (ESI-TDR) and Electrotechnology training packages. Further responsibilities for the role will be to contribute to the ongoing development of training and assessment resources, programming of work and the compliance of an RTO in line with the Australian Skills Quality Authority’s (ASQA) Standards for RTOs.

Key accountabilities 

  • Deliver First Aid, LVR, CPR, EWP and Pole Top Rescue training
  • Deliver competency based training and assessment in either a classroom or workplace environment for internal and external customers
  • Deliver competency-based training and assessment in classroom, workplace, or in-field environments for internal and external customers, including higher AQF or critical business requirement programs.
  • Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) follow-ups, deliver gap training, and engage with supervisors to support competency acquisition and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate training records, prepare reports, and oversee documentation in line with RTO and business requirements.
  • Design, develop, and promote technical training resources, maintaining trade and training competencies to ensure continuous improvement of delivery and outcomes.

About you

Qualifications 

  • Cert IV in Training and Assessing (Training can be provided to the right candidate)
  • Cert III in Distribution Overhead or
  • Cert III in Distribution Cable jointing or
  • Electrotechnology Trades Qualification
  • C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
  • Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course

Licences/Tickets

  • WP EWP Boom length 11 metres or more
  • C Vehicle licence up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM)
  • Workcover Induction for Construction Work - General Course

Experience

  • experience in distribution cable jointing
  • experience in distribution overhead
  • Willing to learn or knowledge of regulatory training and assessment needs of the business and Accredited Service Providers.
  • Willing to learn or experience in developing, programming and delivering workplace trainer and assessor resource materials and duties in a large geographically diverse energy distribution environment. 
  • Experience in conduct Risk Based Training Needs Analysis (RBTNA) Verification of Competency (VoC) in the workplace.
