About the Role
As a System Operator in Training (SOiT), you will embark on a structured learning pathway to become a fully authorised System Operator. While undertaking your training, you’ll support the Network Control Delivery Team, Network Operations and Response Team, and Control Room functions at your current level of authorisation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking training to achieve progressive competency and authorisation as a System Operator
- Preparing planned and unplanned isolations and switching instructions to ensure safe access to the electrical network
- Assisting the Control Room with System Operator and Emergency Service Despatch Officer duties
- Coordinating and managing work requests, and providing advice to internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety rules and operational procedures
- Communicating effectively with staff, customers, contractors, and service providers to coordinate workflow and maintain supply reliability
- Liaising with system operations and other branches to ensure accurate system data and high-quality system diagrams
- Emphasising safe work practices and adherence to safety policies at all times
- Application of Endeavour Energy Safety Rules to planned & unplanned access to the network
You’ll be challenged to balance customer network access needs with operational targets, respond dynamically to changing network conditions, and build effective relationships with stakeholders. Upon completion of training, participation in a 24/7 shift roster as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent tertiary qualifications, or similar experience in a control room environment
- Experience in the energy/electrical industry, ideally with knowledge of HV and LV network operations and switching processes
- A C class vehicle licence (up to 4.5 tonnes GVM) and a White Card (General Construction Induction Card)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including influencing and networking skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- A collaborative approach, thriving as a resourceful team player who builds trusting relationships with colleagues and customers
