About the Role
The Head of Teaching and Learning supports the Dean by leading academic strategy, building teaching capacity, overseeing curriculum and assessment, and driving continuous improvement through scholarly practice and academic leadership.
Leadership, Coordination and Planning
- Implement teaching and learning-related activities with the academic team.
- Contribute to strategic planning and academic leadership within the College.
- Coordinate and deliver academic projects aligned with College goals.
Teaching and Learning
- Support execution and reporting of the Teaching and Learning Plan.
- Build academic capability in pedagogy and scholarly practice.
- Analyse student feedback and implement improvements.
Quality Teaching and Assessment
- Ensure subjects align with academic standards and policy.
- Implement contemporary teaching and assessment practices.
- Participate in academic governance and quality assurance.
Resource Coordination and Development
- Lead the development of quality teaching and learning materials.
- Oversee LMS and digital resources in collaboration with IT.
- Manage teaching-related projects and resource access.
People Management
- Support recruitment, induction, and professional development of academic staff.
- Mentor academics in scholarly activity and pedagogy.
- Drive a positive, student-focused academic culture.
Scholarly Activity and Service
- Engage in scholarly activity as appropriate to leve (or just Engage in scholarly activity)
- Support College events such as Open Days and graduations.
About You
- A recognised PhD or Doctorate.
- Experience in higher education teaching, learning and assessment.
- Excellent teaching skills in higher education contexts.
- Excellent liaison, negotiation and collaborative capability.
- Scholarly activity representative of the academic level.
