In the role of Lab Technician Summer Student , you will provide support to a team of qualified Lab Technicians to test and report a variety of crude oil/gas commodities in adherence to ASTM standards. It’s an excellent job for any student looking for hands on experience in a dynamic chemical lab or exploring career options in the pipeline/oil& gas industry.

Placement Details:

This is a 4-month summer position starting in May 2026, located at our Edmonton Terminal (10108 8 St NW, Edmonton).

 What you will do:

  • Follow ASTM/Book 5 procedures for crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquid analysis.
  • Perform work in adherence to Enbridge Environment and Safety standards.
  • Organize, collect, and distribute quality samples for 3rd party analysis (QAS, CAPP, H2S, Light Ends Analysis, Organic Chlorides and Organic Phosphorous)
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of test results in a Commodity Sample Information System
  • Assist with shipping / receiving of external sample requests.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, calibration and quality standard checks of test equipment and techniques.

Who you are: 

  • You are currently enrolled in a full time post-secondary program studying Chemical Technology or Chemical Engineering Technology and will be returning to full time school immediately following the work term. 
  • Effective and professional communication both verbal and written with ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Able work in both an office and Lab environment (on your feet for upwards of 6-8hrs / day).
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to actively and consistently represent Enbridge’s core values (Safety, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion).

Working Conditions: 

  • Field based role, located in Edmonton (near Sherwood Park)
  • There is no public transportation available to this location. You must provide your own reliable transportation to the job site.
  • Relocation assistance is not provided.
