As a summer intern working for Raise at Enbridge, a first-choice energy delivery company, we commit to providing you with an exciting, rewarding and engaging experience.

We know that when your initiative and talents align with our vision and values, we create good energy. You will work as part of an innovative and collaborative team to develop the practical skills needed to build your future career.

In the role of Electrical Engineering Summer Student, you will support the GTM Electrical Engineering team by developing a centralized Protection & Coordination relay database and assisting with electrical maintenance procedures and engineering documentation. It’s an excellent job for people who enjoy hands-on technical learning, working with power systems, and improving engineering processes.

Placement Details:

This is an 3 month placement starting in June 2026, located in Houston, TX.

What you will do:

Week 1: Onboarding & Orientation

  • Complete onboarding specific to GTM Electrical Engineering.
  • Meet GTM team members (virtually and in person).
  • Learn GTM business processes and electrical systems.
  • Become familiar with protection relays used across GTM.

Weeks 2–3: Technical Foundations

  • Develop an understanding of electrical protection systems and relay functions.

  • Confirm database location (SharePoint) and finalize format.
  • Collect relay setting files from field sites (with qualified electrical worker support).
  • Populate and organize relay data into the database.
  • Draft and update Electrical Maintenance Procedures for SME and MTO review.
  • Review Operational Maintenance Procedures (OMPs) and practice simplifying documentation.
  • Begin working more independently on KMS updates after guided examples.

Ongoing Learning & Exposure

  • Shadow electrical SMEs and engineers across GTM, Projects, and Operations.
  • Participate in RCFA discussions, design reviews, and FAT activities.
  • Gain exposure to engineering workflows and cross-functional collaboration.

How the Intern Will Add Value

Primary Focus

  1. Create and maintain a centralized Protection & Coordination database for electrical protective relays currently in service across GTM.
  2. Support the creation and updating of Maintenance Procedures for electrical assets and assist with KMS-related tasks.

Secondary Focus

The intern will participate in activities such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Project Design Reviews, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). These experiences will build technical capability and provide exposure to Enbridge’s engineering processes while contributing meaningful operational support.

Expected Outcomes

  • A structured, accessible GTM Electrical P&C database is developed and populated with available relay settings data.
  • The database is available for regional use and designed for ongoing updates as new or missing data is identified.
  • Electrical Maintenance Procedures in KMS are updated and populated.
  • The intern gains a strong understanding of GTM engineering processes and workflows, with exposure to broader Enbridge operations.

Who you are:

  • You are currently enrolled in a full time post-secondary program studying Electrical Engineering (power systems specialization preferred) and will be returning to full time school immediately following the work term.
