In the role of Indigenous & Community Engagement Summer Intern, you will participate and support Indigenous and non-Indigenous community meetings and approved events focusing on executing our decommissioning engagement strategy. It’s an excellent job for people who are interested in community or Indigenous engagement as career paths, wanting to learn more about the energy industry and have a desire to advance Indigenous reconciliation.. 

Placement Details:

This is a 4-month paid summer internship starting in May 2024, located in Winnipeg, MB.

What you will do:

  • Participate and support Indigenous and non-Indigenous community meetings.
  • Coordinate site visits.
  • Accompany relationship leads for offsite meetings and site visits.
  • Review TLU Studies.
  • Data entry.
  • Reviewing and updating community contact information.
  • Commitment tracking.
  • Occasional participation in the Indigenous Employment Program initiatives such as Indigenous community engagement, youth mentorship, career and employment events.

Who you are: 

  • You are currently enrolled in a full time post-secondary program studying Native or Indigenous Studies, Community Engagement, Communications, Environmental Science, Engineering, Library Studies, Business or related discipline and will be returning to full time school immediately following the work term. 
  • Effective and professional communication both verbal and written with ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to actively and consistently represent Enbridge’s core values (Safety, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion).
  • Having a background or strong interest in Indigenous history, culture and current affairs is an asset.
  • Preference may be given to a candidate who identifies as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit).

Working Conditions: 

  • Office-based role, located in Winnipeg, MB.
  • Approximately 50% Office, 50% Travel/Community Field work.
  • Work location could be remote or begin as remote.
  • Relocation assistance may be available. 

Please note that this is a role providing contract labour to Enbridge through Raise, who manages Enbridge’s Student Contractor Program. If you are selected for this position, you will be employed by Raise and will not be an employee of Enbridge.
