** The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator to join our team and support the development of a multi-billion-dollar project portfolio within the energy sector. This role involves utilizing cost engineering best practices to estimate a wide variety of projects, including liquids, gas, gas storage, gas utility, power (solar, wind farm, battery storage), carbon capture, and various acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of multidisciplinary projects across various energy sectors.
- Prepare capital cost estimates, including contingencies, market escalation, cash flow, and benchmarks to support future project economic evaluation.
- Prepare multiple estimates simultaneously through the standardized internal estimating process.
- Present and defend estimates and their basis to internal stakeholders and senior management.
- Support various cost engineering reports and special studies using scientific principles and techniques, ensuring the quality of inputs and outputs.
- Perform routine cost analysis and other cost-related evaluations.
- Provide support and input for estimating tool updates due to standard changes, industry practices, recent project experience, etc.
- Liaise with other departments, including supply chain, cost control, and area managers, to ensure effective and accurate cost information is used in the estimates.
Scope and Dimensions:
- Focus on independently achieving general objectives in support of an assigned area of the enterprise.
- Decision-making guided by applying standard procedures, with the possibility of modifying procedures or using methods developed in previous assignments.
- Recommendations are reviewed for soundness of judgment but are usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible.
Working Relationships:
- Close collaboration with other members of the Cost Engineering team, Project Development Leads, and project execution teams across Major Projects.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across multiple departments and external stakeholders to inform estimates.
- Maintain high levels of verbal and written communication, including the collection and relay of technical information and analysis of project cost information.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Strong computing skills, including proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, CoPilot, Word).
- Ability to work with diverse project teams and maintain good relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Well-developed prioritization, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Preferred:
- 7+ years of relevant construction industry experience and/or degree/diploma in Engineering.
- Estimating industry-recognized designations, including CCP or CEP.
- Familiarity with AACEI recommended practices.
- Experience using estimating-specific software (including Cleopatra or Timberline).
- Strong ability/desire to learn and take initiative.
- Highly effective presentation and facilitation skills.
