Job Overview

The Financial Analyst leads the development, review, and ongoing maintenance of financial models that support new projects and strategic initiatives for the client. This role ensures that all financial analyses are accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. The position partners closely with cross-functional teams to support project approvals, regulatory filings, and long-term strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and enhance integrated financial models using standardized metrics and assumptions.
  • Incorporate tax, financing, accounting, legal, and regulatory considerations into all analyses.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of investment evaluations.
  • Support project approval processes by providing financial expertise and guidance to business units.
  • Prepare financial materials for regulatory filings, including evidence, schedules, and supporting studies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to communicate financial outcomes and support strategic and tactical planning.
  • Conduct post-investment reviews by comparing actual performance against approved financial assumptions.
  • Research and assess industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices in financial modeling and investment analysis.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced credentials such as MBA, CFA, CPA, B.Comm, or similar are considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business valuation and/or capital investment analysis using discounted cash flow modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong knowledge of accounting, tax, and finance principles.
  • Strong communication, business acumen, interpersonal, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in a rate-regulated industry is considered an asset.
