Job Overview:
Join our team as an Operational Specialist, where you'll provide critical operational advice to project teams, ensuring the design and delivery of safe, reliable, and fit-for-purpose projects. You will be accountable for achieving Integrated Management System requirements throughout project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Operator in Charge, interfacing with electrical utilities, Enbridge Compressor station operations, Enbridge GTM Gas Control, third-party high voltage maintenance crews, and other stakeholders.
- Support project development, design, and implementation to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient projects.
- Act as a liaison between the Project Team and Westcoast stakeholders, representing core operational interests throughout project life cycles.
- Provide leadership to ensure safety, environmental, and operational best practices during project construction.
- Offer gas industry institutional knowledge to ensure project requirements for training, operating procedures, asset maintenance, and management are met.
- Ensure ORA Operations deliverables are executed according to project schedules.
- Oversee commissioning and handover requirements, ensuring communication and completion of ORA scoping.
- Identify and communicate operational resource requirements, providing direction and informal leadership to Operators and Technicians assigned to projects.
- Address gaps in scope, funding, timing, or process/program requirements between Projects and Operations.
- Provide operational support for managing project deficiencies and handover to Operations.
- Lead efforts to manage post-startup deficiencies, ensuring sustainable operations.
- Identify operational risks to avoid personal, process, and business impacts, with potential cost avoidance routinely exceeding $1M.
Scope/Dimensions:
- Decision-making authority for "asset owner" and front-line supervisor decisions related to project functions.
- Identify safety, operational, and business risks associated with project scope and deliverables.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
- 5-10 years of Operations or Maintenance experience in the Natural Gas Industry.
- Formal education, a technical degree, or equivalent certifications may be considered.
- Effective communication and relationship development skills.
- Self-driven with strong prioritization skills during heavy workloads and competing priorities.
- Extensive operations or technical experience related to gas transportation equipment and systems (e.g., Pipeline and Compression).
- Working knowledge of gas-related programs, processes, and familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
- Qualifications such as Red Seal Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Technologist (registered in ASTTBC), or Electrical Engineer (registered with EGBC) with Class A FSR (unlimited).
Preferred:
- Extensive experience with Westcoast Operations teams and familiarity with station equipment.
- Experience as a field-level leader.
- Knowledge of Management of Change, Work Management, Operations Training Programs, Operational Readiness and Assurance Processes, and Commissioning and Handover best practices.
Working Conditions:
- Predominantly office environment with extensive travel required during project lifecycles.
- Safety-sensitive role involving field visits to pipeline, measurement, and compressor station facilities.
- Highway driving throughout British Columbia for onsite activities and meetings.

- Daily interactions with project and operations stakeholders, including external consultants and vendors.
