Job Overview: 

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee and manage the electrical and controls design of expansion and maintenance capital projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with company standards, specifications, and industry standards, while managing project budgets and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the electrical and controls design of projects executed by third-party engineering firms. Ensure compliance with company and industry standards, and manage projects within budget and schedule.
  • Liaise with functional groups within Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services to ensure project and company requirements are met and incorporated into design deliverables.
  • Utilize experience in designing large horsepower turbine and electrical motor-driven centrifugal compressor stations, industrial systems, and Hazardous Classified Areas meeting NEC requirements.
  • Manage the development of project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, risks, and supporting information related to assigned facility projects.
  • Ensure all facilities are designed in accordance with regulations, industry codes, and corporate standards.
  • Review vendor materials quotations, prepare technical evaluations, and recommend selections based on technical merit, price, and delivery.
  • Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of the project.
  • Review lessons learned from past projects and incorporate recommendations into future designs.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support department initiatives as required.

Scope/Dimensions:

  • Responsible for the successful operations of the assigned area with significant corporate financial impact.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of technical solutions, ensuring efficient coordination of technical resources and stakeholders.
  • Provide informal leadership to peers.

Working Relationships:

  • Project Manager: Weekly interaction for progress updates on cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Supervisor/Manager, Facilities Project Engineering: Daily to weekly interaction for project status updates.
  • External Engineering Firm: Daily interaction for oversight on project design activities.
  • Operations: Weekly interaction for project status updates and design guidance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering and project management.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer designation.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate, initiate, and manage change.
  • Capable of working independently, managing multiple projects, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues with technical and business knowledge.
  • Awareness of interrelationships with stakeholders.
  • Effective communication of technical issues to technical and non-technical staff.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with potential above-normal stress levels due to deadline-oriented project work.
  • Overnight business trips to the field may be required, usually requiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
