Job Overview
The Project Controls Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of project controls planning and cost management deliverables for assigned projects within the client’s Major Projects business unit. Projects are typically valued at over $100 million annually, span multiple years, and involve a high degree of complexity. This role ensures the integration of cost control, scheduling, reporting, and change management processes to support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the development of the overall Project Execution Plan
- Develop and maintain project controls deliverables
- Cost reports and cost variance analysis
- Cash flow reports and variance analysis
- Project change management procedures within the Project Controls Plan
- Monthly progress reports integrating cost control and scheduling functions
- Define project controls resource requirements
- Perform quality control reviews of all project controls deliverables to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Lead coordination and collection of deliverables for Phase Gate Review meetings in alignment with the 5-Phase Project Lifecycle
- Provide feedback and recommendations to project controls and project systems functional teams based on implementation experience with new tools, processes, and procedures
- Support integration between cost control and scheduling teams to ensure seamless collaboration
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related technical discipline
- 5–7 years of experience supporting Engineering and Construction capital projects, preferably within owner-side pipeline industry environments
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Strong understanding of cost control processes and issues related to pipeline and plant facility projects
- Familiarity with project cost control best practices and industry standards
- Experience implementing and maintaining project cost control processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, EcoSys, Oracle Cloud, and Power BI
- Ability to work effectively within a matrix organizational structure
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
