About the Role:

Are you passionate about fostering meaningful relationships and playing a pivotal role in Indigenous and stakeholder engagement? We are seeking a dedicated individual to develop and implement engagement plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. In this role, you will build, maintain, and cultivate relationships with influential leaders within local and regional communities, organizations, and Indigenous groups. You will also support our regulatory applications from an engagement perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy and direction of engagement within the Prince George region, coordinating with internal team members across various departments.
  • Partner with Public Affairs, Communications (PACS), Supply Chain Management, and Project Execution to develop engagement strategies, approaches, and tools that enhance efficiencies and minimize risks related to Community and Indigenous Engagement.
  • Develop strategies and execute regulatory requirements in consultation and engagement, effectively documenting outcomes and preparing submissions to regulators.
  • Design and lead engagement activities in the field with individuals, communities, Indigenous groups, and local governments, supporting business goals and project objectives in collaboration with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Business Development, and Operations.
  • Lead or assist in the development and implementation of specific engagement plans, including project-specific and Regional Engagement Plans, strategies, talking points for media spokespersons, and related budgets. Ensure these plans meet regulatory requirements and enhance the company's reputation as a trusted corporate citizen.

Requirements:

  • University degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of directly related work experience in Indigenous and/or stakeholder engagement, preferably in the resources sector, particularly in the energy industry/energy transportation infrastructure sector.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and government processes; experience in participating in regulatory processes is an asset.
  • Understanding of operations within a large, public company with multiple regional operations.
  • Proven written and verbal communication, presentation, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong consultation, negotiation, facilitation, risk communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with decentralized operations.
  • Frequent travel required.
  • Involvement in after-hours municipal, local government, and community events throughout the year.
  • Office location preference is Prince George, but local offices in Abbotsford, Hope, Kamloops, or Fort St. John may be considered for the right candidate.
